Is your idea ready for a small experiment?
Use evidence from real work to decide what to test next. Score each criterion from 0 to 2: assumption, one concrete example, or repeated evidence.
Worked example: agency client updates
A small agency writes updates after client meetings. Three owners describe the same weekly task. Two can share anonymized notes; neither has committed to a purchase.
| Criterion | Score | Evidence / next step |
|---|---|---|
| Recurring problem | 2 | Three recent weekly examples. |
| Current workaround | 2 | Owners rewrite notes into emails manually. |
| Reachable buyers | 1 | Three interviewees; test whether ten more can be reached. |
| Budget owner | 1 | Owners decide, but willingness to pay is untested. |
| Small deliverable | 2 | One approved draft from one set of notes. |
| Data permission | 1 | Two anonymized samples; document retention rules. |
| Measurable result | 1 | Time saved is plausible; time ten before/after examples. |
10/14 is not a buying signal. The next useful experiment is a manual draft that the owner checks, followed by a concrete paid-pilot conversation. Avoid building CRM integrations until that test produces evidence.
